Mr. Frederick P. Fendt, P.E. (Fred) is currently the Global Manufacturing Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Manager for the Dow Chemical Company. In his current position, Mr. Fendt and his team provide leadership and consulting to the Dow businesses and plants world-wide, helping them produce lower cost, higher quality products in a more sustainable way.
He has almost forty years of industrial energy and environmental engineering experience, having worked in the pulp and paper industry, with both fossil and nuclear electric utilities, and currently within the chemical industry.
Mr. Fendt was born in New York State, but grew up in the Research Triangle of North Carolina. He received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Duke University and a MS in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University.
Mr. Fendt is an active member of the Council of Industrial Boiler Owners, where he is Chairman of the Energy Committee. He is the Chairman of the ASME Energy Assessment Standards Committee.
Mr. Fendt is a registered professional engineer in four states and has been certified as a “Qualified Steam Specialist” by the U.S. Department of Energy.
